Facebook and Instagram Users Can Message Each Other

Facebook and Instagram users can now message each other between apps.

Facebook and Instagram have been working towards greater interoperability with their core services, which is a massive step in that direction.

There’s nothing special users have to do with either of those services. When logging into Facebook, there is now the option of sending a message directly to an Instagram user. The Instagram user will not have to download and install the Facebook messaging app to receive the message. It will only appear on their Instagram interface.

Naturally, the reverse holds as well. Instagram users can communicate with Facebook users without requiring the Facebook user to download and install the Instagram app.

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook, has been very open about his long term goals. His goals are to provide a more seamless communications experience that utilizes a robust end to end encryption, making that communication safer and more secure.

At present, there’s only a limited amount of interoperability, including the ability to send and receive messages as described above. However, the company, having reached this point and it

is not going to stop now. Give the new interoperability a try today, and stay on the lookout for more from the company in the weeks and months ahead.
